We are looking for a Director of Finance and Investments to work closely with our Executive Team

Forest Gate is a recently formed boutique real estate development and investment company founded by principals with some of the most accomplished and recognized community building experience in the industry.  Our affiliated company Treasure Hill Homes is also one of Ontario’s top performing development and homebuilding companies.

Forest Gate acts on a wide array of investment opportunities including asset repositionings, complex mixed-use development projects, value-add income properties, alternative mortgages and other.  Our group has a very unique investment and operational perspective which contributes to the unlimited potential to our organization. 

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Finance and Investments will be an integral part of a very experienced, nimble and fast-paced team working on revenue generating matters of the company.  This opportunity provides a great deal of hand-on experience to the proposed candidate.

It can be expected that time will be spent equally between valuations and analysis for existing assets and new development pursuits as well as corporate financial reporting and planning. 

The ideal candidate will have experience or familiarity in the financial underwriting for development projects, property and portfolio level valuations, as well as quarterly and annual business planning.  They will have a very strong entrepreneurial drive enabling them to scrutinize qualitative and quantitative aspects of projects on behalf of Forest Gate’s investors.  The candidate will have an ability to present complicated financial assessments to the Executive Team simply and clearly. 

They will act with confidence as a business leader and work alongside internal and external stakeholders for investments.  They will be eager to learn and further their own personal development and career.

Given the wide spectrum of opportunities the ideal candidate will have demonstrated a level of diverse analytical experience across various real estate asset classes, such as land and residential development, multi-family and industrial income properties, and other.  Priority will be given to candidates with analytical experience in real estate development, income producing assets, property appraisal, or similar. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Five to seven years of relevant financial experience in real estate development and/or asset management company
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, AACI or related studies
  • Advanced user of Excel, competent in maintaining and analysing large sets of data
  • Experienced user of Tableau, MS Office Power Point, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with Argus and Yardi or similar property management software an asset
  • An understanding of the development process and life cycle from acquisition through to closing
  • Experience in developing and maintaining budgets, pro formas, cash flows and financial reports
  • Strong understanding of real estate financings for developments and existing income assets
